REHEARSAL
Art Talks: İnci Furni & İbrahim Cansızoğlu
15.04.2022
Bilsart is hosting İnci Furni’s exhibition titled “Rehearsal” as part of SENKRON’s “Synchronized Video Exhibitions”, 15 – 30 April 2022.
İnci Furni makes site-specific installations by using patterns, video performances and found objects in her interdisciplinary art practice. The artist, who held her solo exhibition titled “She Waited for a While” at Arter in 2019 and “Still Life” at Vienna Krinzinger Gallery in September 2021, intervenes in white shirt image of the brand with color gestures by her new collaboration with Bil’s brand. In this collection named ‘On Color’, Furni places animated color gestures on the whole body. Consisting of a single main color and intermediate colors; these gestures form lines on the pocket, sleeve and collar, colorful movements converging and moving away from each other on the body, and a linear belt.
In the video performance titled “Rehearsal” that will be held simultaneously in cooperation with Bil’s will take place in Bilsart, the artist creates an interior for the production phase of the shirt with the roll papers to use during her drawings in her Bomonti, İstanbul studio. In this spatial fragment, we watch a performance of her with a shirt, consisting of simple, movement-oriented everyday movements.

ABOUT SENKRON ‘SYNCHRONIZED VIDEO EXHIBITIONS‘
Setting off with the goal of ‘Synchronized Video Exhibitions,’ SENKRON continues to bring together the institution and organizational structures around video art across Turkey. SENKRON, the first edition of which was held in April as whole exhibitions and events last year, carries out with the cooperation of many art institutions and organizations from different cities of Turkey. Aiming to make video art more visible, SENKRON brought the audience a series of exhibitions/events/talks and physical and online screenings focusing on video art with the participation of 49 institutions.
SENKRON, ‘Synchronized Video Exhibitions’ aims to establish new dialogues by synchronizing their video-focused activities that galleries, museums, biennials, and art initiatives include this year in their programs. Many event suggestions are desired to turn into a meeting across Turkey by holding simultaneously at SENKRON and offering an in-depth look at video art between 15-30 April 2022. With more than 50 participating institutions, SENKRON meets the audience and new video-oriented collaborations throughout the event this year.
Led by Mixer, Bilsart, and Versus Art Project, holding with the dedication and effort of institutions, SENKRON enables viewers to follow the event from home by broadcasting artists, curators, and collectors who shed light on the production of video works speeches online while making them visible in spaces especially in Istanbul throughout Turkey. Desiring to open an archival space for video art, SENKRON aims to create accessible resources for the following years by archiving the programs/events/screenings shown every year on the website.
